I have installed Photoshop before on this computer. I took it off a while ago, now i want it back. Everytime i put it in it says "This program required VGA resolution or higher" So i changed it to 1024x768. I believe i had to do this the last time i installed it, and it worked. But not this time, the message keeps coming back up. i need some help

The best way I have found is to group them by what they are grunge, vector, abstract, whatever they are just group them in their own folder.

The air brush is like spray pain, the longer you hold the button down the more will fill in your image. You can use the paint brush for a smoother paint effect - or change your brushes.

Assuming you're not using an older version of Photoshop, there should be an options bar at the top of your screen. If it's not there, go to Window%26gt;Options. In this bar is an icon of an airbrush near the "View" menu at the top of your screen. Clicking on this icon will make your brushes act like an airbrush. A similar effect can also be achieved by lowering the "Flow" value of your brush (adjusted with a sliding bar near the "Filter" menu). Make sure this value is set at 100%. If that doesn't work, you can always return your tools to the default settings by clicking the tool icon on the options bar then choosing "Reset Tool" or "Reset All Tools" from the context menu.
Most likely culprit is that your flow is not set to 100%. The properties for the brush tool include Opacity and flow. For solid lines, ensure both are set to 100%.
i just asked a question about changing the background on photoshop 7... and someone gave me an answer that helped me .... but... i'm having 1 problem with it... i got the background to work..but when i put my original pic on top of the background image...and erase the background so the new background image will show... the original pic is really zoomed in.. and idk how 2 fix it. cuz that's how it saved too.. i want everyone in the pic to show like the original. please help?!
make sure you are on the layer that the picture is on, press Ctrl +T. A dashed box will appear around the picture. Hold shift and grab the corner of the dashed box with your mouse and drag the picture in to resize it. Make sure you hold shift while doing this so it doesn't distort the proportions of the picture.
if you are zoomed in, then zoom out to see the whole document. If it is the picture that is big, then you can use control T to resize by the corners.

open the next pictue by clicking Open from File Menu..
Then selct the part of the picture using the rectangualr selction tool(Marquee)..press M to activate that tool.. Just drag with the mouse to select.
After u have selected PS will display it by a blinking dotted line border.. Choose Copy from Edit menu.. Then click onn ur original picture and choose Paste from edit menu...
There ur selection will be pasted to ur old picture...
U cud try other selection tools such as Oval selection tool, lazzo selection tool(free hand selection).. All these tools acn be accessed from the Toolbox.. Select Tools from Window menu if Toolbox is not alraedy visible..

The only thing you can do is copy and paste, and its automatically will create a new layer for your picture or photo. Then another way is import from your scanner or other. But if you open 2 image at one time then you want to copy both, and you need to use copy %26 paste technique but please use Ctrl + A (select all) then copy and paste to desire area. Voila you're done.

Aside from the price difference ? Adobe elements is intended for casual user and beginner. It also does not have all the advance tools for photo editing. Photoshop is for people who want the best tools but the learning curve can be steep.

My photo shop encounter a error after opening. It poped out and says "An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Is your copy genuine, if it is then check out your disk if the directory you have install this software has less free disk, this can create errors sometimes. Or some of your installed software files are corrupted, buy a new copy if it is genuine they will have to change.
How do you make files smaller on photoshop. No matter what i do they're still to big!!
Make sure your dpi is as low as you can get away with. Make sure the file is flattened. If you're saving a JPEG, lower the quality if you can. If you're saving the file for the web, use the Save For Web function. It would be helpful to have more info such as the purpose of the file and what you've tried so far.
Are you saying the Photoshop format or image files format such as .gif, .jpeg, .png.

I got this computer from someone,but they went through it and deleted alot of programs,but not all the way,so the contents still exist,and i have found the install for one of the other programs in its folder in my computer,and i reinstalled it,and it works fine,but now i want to recover photoshop,but when i look in its folder for the install icon there is just to register it,uninstall it,its readme,and the program,but when you click on the program,it cant find it,so is there any way i can restore it by reinstalling it,like i did with the other lost programs,and if so where do i go to do it?
During the install photoshop does not create a install file from disk, so you wont be able to install it again unless if you have the disk. The program that you said you manage to reinstall it probably was an one file installer wich fortunatly was left there. I
n order to work a program installed has files all over windows folder, if it was uninstaled those files are gone. Often some files remain in to Program Files (egg. uninstall file that you allready saw) but these are no use without the rest of the files

To save money, you should go with the latest version Photoshop Element. It is about $100. That have all functions you need now.
If you have money and do some professional photography work, you can can Photoshop CS 3 (version 11).
If you use Photoshop Element and it will take you years to learn and want what you need in Photoshop CS. Many pro photographers rarely use functions in PS CS that PS Element does has.

I think what you're looking for is "Posterize".
You can find it under Image --%26gt; Adjustments--%26gt; Posterize...
The lower you set the number, the more dramatic the effect is.
To add some outlines, you could also try making a duplicate layer above the posterized one, use Filters --%26gt; Stylize --%26gt; Find Edges; set this layer to "Multiply" and then adjust the contrast via curves/levels/brightness-contrast.

When I switch from Thumbnails or Single Photo View to Full Screen view, and move around in Full Screen view, when I go back to the Thumbnails it always takes me back to the last view Thumbnail rather than the photo I last viewed in Full Screen mode :-(
That is most annoying! Does anyone know how to have the all the views synchronized, so that I can always navigate to the same picture, no matter in what view? Or is it not possible in Photoshop Elements,

Doing so without loss of quality is easy. Problem is, when you blow up the picture, you see the pixels, and it might seem quality has decreased. Problem is, you can't effectively create resolution where there is none. That's just for the movies. The best solution is to start with a high resolution picture. If not, you can try increasing the colors to 16 million, adjust the resolution, then play with the blur and sharpen filters. You actually will end up with a less detailed picture, but you can somewhat mask the big chunky pixels.
for many reasons I can not afford photoshop, I am wondering if anyone knows of another, cheaper, software that is comparable.....a program that is able to remove a person from a photo, able to add a person to a photo, able to touch up 'unwanted' blemishes on an original photograph, such as a pimple on a face ;) right now I use Picture It!- but the tool used for blemishes in that program seems to look like a 'smudge' when you print the photo out. and of course you can not delete a single image, when you cut something out your left with only the cut out. Though its not the easiest, you could actually be using paintbrush for all of those tasks. I would suggest taking a look at photoshop elements. I have never used it but i have a client who is a small time photographer and it meets almost all of his needs. You may also consider Corel Paint Shop Pro. PSP used to be free back in the day and you may find that an older version meets your needs just fine (www.oldversion.com) Paint.NEt is pretty robust for a free graphics program as well. have fun!

While I have never used Photoshop, I do use two programs that are really good and totally free. One is Photofiltre and the other is The Gimp. I would recommend either and both of these.

As the universal saying goes, "it depends". Depending on what you're going to use it for will dictate whether you want to change. Photoshop is more widely used than PSP 9 and consequently, you're going to find a lot more people who can help you use it. However, the program is very complex and has a little bit of a learning curve. If you're comfortable with starting over and learning a new program, it will definitely be worth the investment, especially if it's a program you're going to be using professionally.
If you're more of a hobbyist, as a fellow answerer above suggested, it might be more beneficial to just stick with PSP 9. I've linked a few sites below where you can find out more about the program.

Tutorials suck!!! I learned photoshop in no time just playing with it...ctrl-z and ctrl-alt-z are VERY useful to go back...other-wise just bring your mouse over your tools and they will tell you what the hot-keys are, like b=brush g=gradient or fill z=zoom ect.

With your portrait selected, go to the top menu and choose Filter, then slide down to Texture. When your portrait is in the texture window, you will be able to choose from sandstone, canvas, brick, etc., and be able to adjust the amount you want the texture to show.

Select the area you want to texture - probably with the polygon lasso tool (or whichever one works for you).
Copy it.
Create a new layer.
Paste it on the new layer.
Under filters, choose Texture.
Apply the texture you want.
Click OK.
I an running Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 and I seem to have needed to run system restore after a driver crash twice and I had 23 days left in the trial but now It says "Your Photoshop CS3 Trial has expired" Help!!!!! :AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH:
Changes have been made to the registry, your trial won't work again unless you re-install Vista.
I recommend GIMP, it has many features of Photoshop and costs nothing.
GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.
Other free alternatives would be Paint.net or Picasa from Google.

The 'history' window is an excellent way for you to undo changes to an image. Every time you make a change to your image it is recorded in the history window. You can click on any change in the history window and the image will revert back to that state.
To view the history window, simply click on the 'Window' pull down option and you will see 'History' as the 10th option on the list.
CTRL - Z to undo, and CTRL-SHIFT-Z to step backwards. Which is like undo, but better because you can go back multiple times, where as undo just covers your last mistake.
ctrl+z is the keyboard undo shortcut for photoshop! =]
Whenever I start Photoshop CS it freezes when it gets to " Reading Text Global Resources....done". It did this for a while then it just popped up with an unrecoverable error. I tried reinstalling and it didn't make a difference. It's worked fine for months, so I don't know why it suddenly stopped working. I'm running on Vista if that helps at all.
The only thing that I can think of is that number one, photoshop is a "hefty" program to begin with, capable of slowing down the best computers. On top of that, Vista has already been rumored to have allot of difficulty supporting numerous programs. That is two things working against you. Not to mention if you don't have more then enough ram or if the rest of your specs are less than adequate, that spells a recipe for disaster. As for it working fine before, it has been my experience that sometimes things like that happen. Sorry I know that's not a very good answer. My die hard computer nerd friends would say your first mistake was getting Vista in the first place. I hope everything works out.

I been trying the photoshop pro free trails and now that I used them all it wont let me try them no more... I tride to un install then and then re make accounts on there and re download them so I can do the trails again but it still tells me your free trail has exspierd. how do I remove everything that's left on there (registry keys, items in hidden folders, program files left etc). and I also tride to make new e-mails too but still wont work.
There are registry keys that denote the time limitation has been reached. Only if you know what you are doing should you mess with the registry. If you delete a wrong file by error, you could be looking at a clean re-install of your OS. If you have done this process before, just run your regedit, (ctrl +R) and type in "regedit" w/o the quotes. then click "Edit" on the file menu at top and then click on find. Delete the one it finds and then press F3 key to find next instance of it. Do this till you get the message "Finished running the registry". All traces will be gone. Then you can try to re-install the trial again with a different name and e-mail.

I use Illustrator quite a bit. It's vastly superior to Photoshop if you want to do anything complex with vector graphics. It's also better for working with text.
You can create vector art in Photoshop, but its capabilities are sort of limited; you get all of the basic drawing tools, but none of the higher-level stuff. For example, you can easily draw paths and save them, but you couldn't take two pre-existing paths and merge them into one path by a method of your choice. And you can't produce finished vector art (paths that have line weights, fills, etc.) without elaborate trickery of one kind or another. If you want to do vector illustration, Illustrator is really a must.

Double-click on the layer. Blending Options on the right. Set the percentage to whatever you want. Note: This affects the whole layer.
Alternative shortcut: Hit the number key at the top of the keyboard representing the percentage of the layer to show. 1 = 10%, 4 = 40%, 9 = 90%...
If your intent is to fade two or more images into one, than you have to work with layers masks. A mask is a greyscale layer linked to the image below. Black color will let the image below shine through while white will hide it. Shades of grey will be more or less transparent. But better than me these tutorials will teach you about masks:

The effect that's been used in those images (to some extent) is a PS Filter called 'Plastic Wrap', but they're both loaded with other effects and filters and have taken a lot of work to produce, so no, there's no simple tutorial for producing something like that.

It's your monitor, not the software. Did you run Adobe Gamma?

Once you have calibrated, you will see your colors better.
sounds like your photoshop isn't set up for the type of monitor you are using. Go under Edit %26gt; Color Settings to set this up.
1. Your screen colors are not corectly adjusted
2. You're using CMYK instead of RGB
There are many reasons that may cause this:
Save format: try to change the format to png or other better quality format may get the true colors you are using.
Save for web option ... it may change colors sometimes to optimize for size.
Using LCD screens sometimes does not show accurate colors, try to view the image on CRT screen.
color mode could be the problem. if you are working on a .gif file, then your file is in 'indexed color mode' which means it only recognizes a pre-set amount of colors. if that is the case simply change your color mode to rgb or cmyk and you should be able to select white again.

Find a good cloud photo. Add your photo as a layer above the cloud layer. Erase or mask around your photo to eliminate any background. Reduce the opacity or use a blending mode such as linear burn.

I am trying to use the Photoshop color removal element. I am using Photoshop 7. How do you use/locate this element in Photoshop 7. Here are some great examples of the ettect I am trying to achieve:

Some of your examples do indeed have the color removed from portions of the photo. Others appear to have areas colorized.
An easy way to remove color is to add an Adjustment Layer (black and white circle at the bottom of the Layers panel) for Hue/Saturation and then reduce the Saturation slider to -100.
To get color back in certain areas, use the Brush Tool (type B) to brush over those areas.
To colorize (that is, add a fake color), add another Adjustment Layer on top of the previous one that removed all the original color. click the colorize check box on the lower right of the Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer, adjust the Hue slider and Saturation sliders as necessary, and click OK. Use the Brush Tool to remove the fake color from wherever you don't want it.
i used the square marquee tool for photoshop CS. i boxed in one area to work on the part alone. and now i cant get rid of the box. how can i get rid of it?
Ctrl D deselects.
I always use cntrl+H, this normally deselects, and u can then use it again, to re-select that area. or cntrl+D to eliminate it completely.

i clicked the set up but it says insert photoshop cs3 which i already have !! please help
If you are saying you are installing from the CD and it is not recognizing it, you have the product key, correct?
Just go to the website and download the trial version and use your product key with that.
If this is not what you are saying, put the CD in your drive and reboot, leave the CD in there. It should recognize it on reboot.

It depends on your printing process, really.
I always use 300 dpi or higher for quality imaging, but depending on the specific requirements of your project you could go down as low as 75 dpi.
If it's all text and clip-art, 100 - 150 dpi is probably fine. If you need photo-quality resolution anywhere on the flyer use at least 200 dpi.

With the computing power nowadays, 450 and 300 dpi are standards.
i wanna photoshop a baby picture i want to edit the shoes to a nike shoe or something like that is there any way to do this? i dont have much experience with photoshop
There is an icon with a pen nib on the left hand side of the stage. Click on it. A bar will appear on the top with all the presets available. You will see a square with points at the edge and a pen in the middle, click on this. Use this pen to outline what you want (the shoe). You must remember to enclose the shoe ( you will know when you do this because the dots will disappear and all you will see is a line around it). Once that is done go to the right hand side of the screen and click on the tab named paths, it is where the layers tab is. You will find "work path" in the small window and a rectangle of the path you just created. Right click on this rectangle and select " make selection. Set the 'feather radius' to 1 and click ok. Hit "ctrl + x" that should cut out the shoe. To put in another shoe you may have to transform the scale and distort a bit to fit. It is best to use another layer for that. In order to transform it it needs to be selected. If it's in it's own layer that's easy. Just hit "ctrl + a" go to edit and down to transform and choose the type of deform that you want. Have fun and if you have any more questions post again.
In Photoshop 7.0 using MacOS10. I am trying to use the Elliptical Marquee tool and be able to move it around without cutting the piece.
When I choose a portion of the picture with the tool and I want to make the chosen portion larger or smaller, the tool automatically cuts my chosen part and I don鈥檛 want that鈥ow can I fix the problem?
You have to Transform the selection. Here's how:
1. Create your selection using the Elliptical Marquee Tool.
2. Click the Select menu and choose Transform Selection.
(your selection will have bounding boxes with which you can manipulate the selection but not the image.)
3. Edit away!

if you are just editing pictures you can get photoshop cs
if youre editing videos you can try photoshop after effects. hoe that helped!

Okayy. so i have photoshop. i was wanting to know if ya'll had any good ideas..or if you have found any pictiures on the internet that i could look at and possibly try it for my self.. i know how to work photshop, i just dont have very many creative ideas, and i would like some pictures to look at so that i can i have an idea of some cool stuff to so with this amazing program!

Some funny stuff...like put a picture of a friend standing on top of a mountain where he is bigger than the mountain. Or a girl in a bikini laying in a snowstorm. Or a picture of your car halfway into a grocery store. Then, of course, you can also do a lot of naughty things with your pictures too.
You could check out the forums on SomethingAwful.com, Fark.com, and elsewhere. They regularly have photoshop competitions where if you create a particularly funny one based on a given topic, they may include it in their daily or weekly columns.

You can't get Photoshop for free...and if you did it would be illegal...
Now if you want something free that is similar to PS then try GIMP...Just google GIMP PHOTO and it should be one of the first things listed

I want to print out 2-3 photos TOGETHER on the same 4X6 glossy sheet. HOW DO I COMBINE these pictures together on photoshop so they will print out as ONE photo? THANKS???????????
open a new blank draft that is same siza with the glossy photo paper..open the pictures that you want..use move tool..move the pictures one by one into the new blank window..press ctrl+t to transform the pictures to become smaller..transform all the pictures..after u done..press ctrl+s tosave it..save as jpeg image..(not in photoshop format)..print it!..resolve..
Where can I find the cheapest Photoshop CS3 for my mac? I don't want a cheaper version like elements, I just want to find the cheapest price...Ebay doesn't look too promising right now.
If you're a student or somehow involved in education, you can get a MAJOR discount on all Adobe software, including Photoshop CS3 or CS3 Extended. You will need some form of academic proof though. Hope you qualify... or know someone who does.
Anything for a mac is going to kill your pocket I payed 1200...well my boss did for my copy of CS3 PRO. look on piratebay.com
