Photoshop vs. cheaper photo software?

for many reasons I can not afford photoshop, I am wondering if anyone knows of another, cheaper, software that is comparable.....a program that is able to remove a person from a photo, able to add a person to a photo, able to touch up 'unwanted' blemishes on an original photograph, such as a pimple on a face ;) right now I use Picture It!- but the tool used for blemishes in that program seems to look like a 'smudge' when you print the photo out. and of course you can not delete a single image, when you cut something out your left with only the cut out. Thank you for any and all replys :)

I have been using Corel Photo Paint for years. It has all the funtionality of Photoshop at a fraction of the cost. it will aslo export and import in PSP format which is (photoshop). Adobe has tried to monopolize the photo/grphics industry for years. As a photo enthusiest/graphic Artist its the best on the market for the money!! $89.00

PhotoFiltre is free and very good:

Photoshop Elements is also very good, but not free.

Google for them.
Though its not the easiest, you could actually be using paintbrush for all of those tasks. I would suggest taking a look at photoshop elements. I have never used it but i have a client who is a small time photographer and it meets almost all of his needs. You may also consider Corel Paint Shop Pro. PSP used to be free back in the day and you may find that an older version meets your needs just fine (www.oldversion.com) Paint.NEt is pretty robust for a free graphics program as well. have fun!
hello. as a free alternative for photoshop, although it lacks some important features, you may consider The Gimp.

it can do everything you mentioned, and you probably won't need the features it lacks.
