Another question about photoshop brushes.?

ok so i just got photoshop 8...i think. its a newer version i believe.

ive read all other questions about saving it to a certain file..but im not sure how to do that. ive tried downloading brushes from different places..but i keep getting the same problem.

say i go to deviantart to download a set...i get the box saying what would oyu like firefox to do with this? so ive been going with open with photoshop.brushes or whatever...

but then i realized i needed to save it somewhere...according to other ansers..the only other option i have is to save it to a disk.

i feel like i shouldbe getting this. but im not. if someone could just talk me through all the steps thatd be great.

On photoshop 7, there are different ways to distort and warp an image (layer), but there doesn't seem to be a way to bend the image in a CIRCULAR fashion - not spherical - without compromising the image. I wish to bend a layer the same I could bend text. Any ideas? Thanks!

i need to make tryptych photos for an upcoming exhibition.

i have taken some photos but i do not know how to make them triptych in photoshop.

1.firstly id like to know how to divide a full photo into three equal parts.

2.and also how to put three different photos together to make a normal size photo. i dont know if i am being clear or not but say i have a photo of a shoe and another photo of another shoe, and a photo of both shoes together. and i want to stick all three photos together to make a normal size photo.

but i dont know what the size of a normal photo is etc.

I must admit to being a bit confused!

I don't know any easy way to split a photo into three equal parts - you'll just have to get the rulers out and put in some guidelines I guess.

A 'normal' sized photo is 6" x 4" - so if you just create a blank canvas that size you can simply cut and paste your images onto it.

Cropping may be a decent way to cut a picture into three pieces (remember to save an original seperately).

Cutting and pasting may be a good option for bringing together three photos. (I dont remember if photoshop calls it that, but I would use a tool that functions like that.)

More normal picture sizes include 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, and 16x20. I suppose I would go by the size of frame (if there is one specified size) for the show. Otherwise, bigger is better, but watch your dpi or it wont look as nice. Try not to drop below 180, or your image will get grainy.

In both videos, the primary tool used is the Liquify filter, which allows you to make smooth distortions of images by twisting/shearing/scaling using various sized brushes.

The rest of the work done was mostly cleanup to improve the image and to hide signs that the image was liquified, plus to add some customization.

If you spend some time playing with the Liquify filter, and then rewatch the videos, you'll have a really good idea of what needs to be done.

Both videos are by authors who have some skill with Photoshop, although I think the second video showed someone with more confidence/attention to detail. So be prepared to spend a fair bit of time practicing.

Plus, the second video's operations were probably performed with a pressure-sensitive tablet, which made the addition of extra hair go really fast (it's much harder to trail off paint flow without a tablet).

Go through the attached tutorial videos. They are fantastic.

Also for the simple stuff, use the upright tools window and play with different tools using a picture with lots of different things.

Also, if you want to do something specific, use help and ask the question. One of the most important things is finding out WHAT Photoshop can do. Then you can try these things and learn from that.

I have been working (well, playing anyway) with PS for 13 years and I still learn new things every so often.

BTW, I have a fractal program that works great with PS, in allowing you to increase the size of pictures with virtually no loss in clarity and detail.

I took a 4 PM digital camera picture, enlarged it to 8' x 6' and printed that out with a color laser printer on 96 sheets of 8 1/2" x 11" paper and glued them to a flat background. The picture looked life size and stunning.

Most people dont need the full version of photoshop. And you are right, its expensive. I paid 1000 bucks for CS3 extended. If you are a student, you probably can get a student version cheaper, but probably not 50 bucks.

Arcsoft photo editing tool isnt that bad for amatuers and only about 100 bucks. Of course it wont do everything a full version of photoshop will do. However most people dont know how to use all of photoshops features anyway.

Can anyone explain the differences in saving formats in Photoshop? What I mean is, I have been generally saving images/artwork in JPEG but recently discovered that this is not necessarily always the best way to save an image for different applications. (For example, I created a logo for a friend's business, saved it in JPEG, and then was told by my friend's printing company that BITMAP or TIFF is a better format to use for printing business cards as, these formats preserve the clarity of the image better. I had sent him the completed image as a large-sized file but, when he attempted to shrink it to a smaller size, the text I had included with the logo was not as crisp/sharp.)

I would really like to understand about different formats and which ones are better for different purposes. Please explain in simplest terms please as, I am still learning everything in general.

I don't know too much about the different formats. I save everything as BMP's, PNG's and PSD's. When you save it as a PSD, you can go back and edit it easily whenever you want.

and Business cards? Business cards need to be saved in tiff format at 300 dpi. They also need to be designed to allow for bleed.

To save an image on a transparent background you need to use gif or png formats.

most files for the web can be saved as jpeg.

72 dpi is the norm for web graphics.

Check the image size dpi (Image %26gt; Image Size)

Resolution = 72 or 96 pixel/inch, it means the image is made for viewing on web and not for printing, therefore it is pixelated.

If the resolution is small to start with, you can't really fix the problem. Next time try making your project at least 200 dpi.

But anyway, there are a few tools that can help you.

1. Magic Wand - I suppose you're using this currently,this gives quite alot of frizz. Try playing with the tolerance to get better results.

2. Lasso Tool - only if you have a tablet or excellent mouse control.

3. Polygonal Lasso - for more angular shapes. Requires plenty patience.. especially if you're tracing hair.

4. Magnetic Lasso - If there is high contrast between the object you want to trace and its background, click on the edge and hover your mouse along the edges. Needs a while to get a hang of.

5. Quick Mask Mode (located under the colour swap on your tools bar) - Best for slight retouching after using one of the above tools. Basically, colour or erase the areas that you've over or underselected. Return to Standard Mode when finished.

There's more ways, like using pen tool, but only if you really want it totally flawless and have at least half a day to spare.

This would take techniques such as blurring/smudging parts of the photo to "wipe away" the existing text - then simply adding a layer of text where you want it..

I'm sure there's other ways, but I think this is the easiest.

You could use the magnetic lasso to take out the words Merry Christmas.

Then clone the background that was around the Merry Christmas to fill in the white space left by the missing words.

Maybe use the smudge tool to make the clone look less obvious. Depending on the Background...

Then use the text tool to add whatever you want in whichever font and size your choose, to the location that previously said Merry Christmas.

PS if you use the eraser and make the background turn white...try using the cloning tool to pick up a patch of the background and place it over the shite patch.

Or clone backgroung straight over the words instead of erasing the words....Clone the background over it.

Those two techniques will work unless the background is very detailed and it will be obvious.

I have no experience with them but it is hot software for sure. It is a relatively new site. It has no site adviser rating I wouldn't trust them. Download The Gimp. It is open source. The interface is a bit clunky but it does many of the things photoshop does.
The only way you will get Photoshop for 拢30 is if it's two or three versions out of date, and somebody is trying to empty their warehouse of it.

I can do it easily in Gimp, and I can do it easily in Paintshop Pro. I haven't discovered how to do it in Photoshop, and I can't decipher their danged help files. Would someone puhleeze tell me, in simple steps, how to select a rectangle's worth of a graphic in Photoshop? go to 'select' menu from top and choose 'transform selection

This will give you the resize function as it does when you use the crop tool.

If you have the floating toolbar with the paint brush, paint bucket/gradient, etc, I believe its the topleft icon, right click it for more options, rectangle should be one of them. If not, just right click on all the icons until you find it.

go into Photoshop than Image %26gt;%26gt; Adjust and you have the options there Hues, colour balance. the 2 i use is Auto Contrast and Auto Colour most of the time

But the best thing is to experiment with the photo

Absolutely. Photoshop is a great tool for these types of tasks. To lighten up a photo simply choose brightness/contrast from the image menu (go to adjustments). You will want to increase the brightness. For blurred images choose sharpen from the filter menu. As always in Photoshop there are several ways to fix images. For a great resource check the site below.

Just about any photo editing program will help lighten up a dark picture, but none that I know of will correct a blurry picture. Sometimes "unsharp mask" can help with some finer points, but it won't do a thing for obviously blurry photos.

I've been using PhotoImpact for a couple years, and couldn't be happier with it. At about $50 it's a lot cheaper than Adobe, and you can try a free trial at the website listed below.

Give it a try and see what you can do with it. If you remember to save a copy of your picture under a different name - for instance, "save as" xxx.edited - then you can tinker with the photo all you want without ever changing your original.

Photoshop may also have a free trial version. Sometimes the only way to know what a program will do is to be fearless and give it a try!

Your bags aren't even as bad as some of the models i retouch daily! But, i know how we're our own worse critics:

1. Choose the 'patch' tool in photoshop (ctrl or cmd J)

2. Draw around the bag

3. drag the selected area to a place on the cheek... someplace with the right amount of detail

4. Voila, no more bags! If it looks like you went too far, then before you deselect, hit shift + cmd or ctrl + f and drag the fade slider to the left. (or go to 'edit' menu and choose 'fade' from the options)

Depends on what the picture looks like, you can make the body background your image, then put tables over the image to put text and forms.

Or you can use Photoshop to slice the picture, and then put thoes in diffrent tables to make sure they run togeather.

you can't change text type or size...but you can change the color of the text by selecting it with any tool such as magic wand,then hit ctrl+u to change the color.

no you can't - the only option would be to feed the image into an OCR program.
If you flatten the PSD file, you can select the text with Select by color option. Increase/decrease the selection tolerance if you need.

You can also select manually the text or create paths and export them.

Next time make sure that you save your photoshop file as a .psd file. It is the native file format of photoshop which preserves layers.

If you saved you file in .bmp, .jpg, or .gif; then you're out of luck, you can't do anything to get the layers back.

If you're expert in photoshop, then probably you can use selection tools like magic lasso to re-create all the layers.

hmmmm sorry to say, you cannot revert it back once you merged it and saved and closed :(

next time make a backup or dont even merge psd files, just save the output as jpeg or tiff to take with you :)
I believe so.. I feel your pain. Next time you should save a separate file as a .psd so that you can refer back to it if there are any problems (the layers are preserved in .psd).

Photoshop Collage?

I'd like to create a photo collage using Photoshop. Can anyone tell me how the process works? I've tried, but obviously have no clue.... I opened a new, from scratch, "blank"layer, then opened some of the pics I'd like to include in the collage- but don't know how to layer them onto the "blank" layer. What am I doing wrong? its easy. open your first image. Increase canvas size to something clearly bigger than your first image, size depends on how much more space you think you need.

Then open your other images. copy and paste each into the first image. Pasting should make a new layer for each image. As long as they are in different layers you can manipulate each layer individually for brightness, contrast, color, position and similar.

Once you arranged everything as you want you crop the image so it has the size you want.

Usually I save an image with all the layers separate in case I want to change something later. But as it is smaller I also make my final image by "flatten all layers" in the layer menu and save that under a different filename.

PS. if the images are not the same resolution they will appear in size according to what dpi you have in the first image. You can change the size of individual layers with "transform" "size" or use "free transform", I think it's in the edit menu.

My Photoshop CS3 is working perfectly--- well, almost. All features are working fine but whenever I'm going to be saving something, it just hangs EVERY SINGLE TIME. I can't close the window anymore and I can't even turn the computer off in a more proper way so I end up turning it off by clicking the power button. I have already removed and reinstalled the program but it still hasn't changed.

I don't know if you're using a PC or a MAC, but whenever Photoshop has done this to me (on a Mac), nine times out of ten it has been because of a lack of hard disk space. Are your scratch disks assigned under preferences? If the images you're working on are memory intensive it'll eat into the hard disk space on your primary scratch disk which might cause problems. If this is the issue, assign an external (or another internal) drive as an additional scratch disk.

We found that the program was fine when I logged in, so we renamed his profile to see if that fixed it. Elements is a basic version of the higher end Photoshop CS3. Elements along with Lightroom are good for smaller touch ups in photos. Don't get me wrong, as a pro, all I use is Lightroom and it is all that I think I will ever really need. CS3 is good if you do a ton of editing. Elements is better if you just want to enhance your photos.

You do not say what version of Photoshop you are using. The brush engine is different in the CS versions...

One easy cure is to increase the softness on the brush. Otherwise, open the brush pallet and click on "Other Dynamics" (don't tick the box, click on the words!) Make sure the flow jitter is set to zero.

If you are trying to paint with a mouse...... well, get a Wacom tablet ;-)

I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 on a mac for some time. I then got the newer pc version.

So, heres my problem. I used to make eyes more vibrant and lips redder, that sort of thing, using a shortcut style feature at the top. You clicked on the icon, and up came a window. In it were multiple boxes of whatever you had selected, most of the time an eyeball, each with different hues. So, there would be a bluer eye, a yellower eye, a greener eye, et cetera. You clicked on it to apply it.

The feature has either been removed or isn't displayed automatically in the pc version... and doing it the long way is very irritating; i'm editing a photo with ten people and thats twenty eyes. I really don't want to have to do it the long way. So, does anyone know a)what that feature was called b) where it is in the pc version or c)if it has been taken away?

I started with Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 on a PC and I do not recall this feature in the PC version. Maybe I was just not a very advanced user. I'm up to version 5.0 now and I think I nkow my way around the program ~fairly~ well. I can not find anything that would select all of the eyes and intensify the color. I just did a search on various terms that I thought would turn up something, but there were no matches for this function.

You might get somewhere with saturation, but of course, this would alter everything a bit. [CTRL]+[U]

Hold down Shift as you use the brush. The best way is click once to start, hold down Shift and click where you want your line to end. If you just keep clicking and don't release the Shift key, the line will follow, changes angles as you do, so for example you could draw a zigzag line.
use the pen tool. then right click and it says something like stroke path, click the drop down box that has the pencil and choose the brush. IT doesn't give a jaggedy an effect. [make sure your brush setting is set to one of the round brushes at an small size before you use the pen tool.]

Photoshop is a photo enhancement/manipulation tool. If you're trying to draw lines, import your photo into Illustrator and do it there. If you absolutely must do your lines in PS, select the tool you want, click, press shift, then drag.

Then move the slider from the center toward the green..

You may need to add a bit of yellow and cyan from the other 2 sliders..... play with it until you find something you like and then hit OK....

If this works for your particular picture, it's the easiest way. Otherwise, use the more detailed directions provided by the others who already answered.

Hit [CTRL]+[U] to bring up the saturation menu.

In the Edit window, drop down the menu and choose "Green"

Slide the saturation level over until you have the desired effect.

If you don't have any green in the picture other than the leaves, it won't take too much.

Try doing the same thing with Levels. Drop the menu down, choose green, and then move the midtone and/or highlight slider to the left a bit.
I swear there are 100 different ways to do one particular thing in photoshop. :-) It's a personal preference and it depends on the photo. On top of all of the answers here, you could also use the Selective Color menu to adjust the green's specifically without having to do too many selections with a magic wand or anything crazy like that. It's simple and very effective!

As far as I know, all digital images are automatically in the 8bit mode. But I have to include a profile pic in an application and the requirements strictly dictate that it should be in the 24bit color mode and that 8bit color mode pics are not accepted. I've been breaking my head trying to find how to do it in Photoshop, but all I could find was 8bit/16bit/32bit under Image%26gt;Mode%26gt;

Save it as a BMP file. This format allows for 24 bit, and its an option when you "save as" to this file type. A 24 bit requirement isn't uncommon, its the standard image type in windows and some other softwares.

24 bit mode IS 8 bit. There are three channels - RED, GREEN and BLUE. They are all 8 bits each. Some people combine the three 8's to make 24bits. It's not technically correct but it is very common. So your 8bit image is exactly what they require.

Note: don't save as a BMP as this will take up a lot more diskspace and isn't a common filetype anymore. Save as JPG and move the quality slider to 6 or above. As you move the slider, the JPG save box will tell you what the image size will be.

I've been trying to figure this out for some time.

The image I want to create has to have an alpha channel.

It has to be in 32 bit .tga format when saved.

What I need to do is create a window frame that is semi transparent were the glass is.

The finished product I've been trying to make will have a texture for the window glass, but you can see threw it.

Any ideas on how to do this?

You can mess with blurs, lighting and all of that to make it have a glassy like appearance. As far as being see through, make the frame a separate layer from the glass materials and make whatever you want to show up behind the glass as its own layer. Change the opacity of the of the glass material so that it is slightly transparent. Then structure the layers so that everything looks proper.

If you still have the Photoshop CD, you can search for that missing DLL on the CD... then copy the DLL and pasted it in here (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS)... if it's a normal install on Windows XP. Other than that, you can uninstall the program... then reinstall it. Hope this helps.

I'd recommend google searching dll downloads and go to a site that you can download dll's from and then add it to the corresponding folder. Alternatively if that doesn't work you could re-download it if possible and it may work. If all above fail email the company and ask for further directions...

Actually, I have 4 very similar documents. They're JPEGs and I have Photoshop CS2. They are scanned flyers but I need to clean them up. You know how you scan a document that has something written on the back and it shows up in the scan faintly? How do you clean that up easily? Easy, since you use photoshop. Make sure the layer palette is open. All you have to do is to place the person (on the bottom layer) and the kiss make-up on the top layers.

Right above the 2 layers, there should be an option for a scroll down list with the name "normal" on it. Just scroll down the list and pick the one you like.

Choose "fill" from the menu bar (under edit?).
After clicking on the paint bucket icon and moving it over your picture, try clicking the right button on your mouse and selecting "normal" from the drop down menu.
Always try to work with a duplicate layer in case you mess things up. You should have your original layer (called the background) then you should have duplicated it and be working on layer 1. Make sure you have reset all the brushes etc. to their default settings. Goos luck.

I bought a Powerbook G4 used, and the previous owner deleted Adobe CS (1) in an attempt to remove info about himself.

Well, my father does graphic editing, so I have been trying to reinstall Photoshop.

I have tried 7, CS 2 and CS 3.

They all crashed on Building TWAIN menus.

I also tried a CS3 clean script from adobe, which didn't help.

I'm assuming something is left for CS 1, since he was incorrectly removed, What could cause this issue and how can I get rid of it?

I'd use the CS1 program remover, but I don't have CS1 myself.

You will need the Original Operating System Disc's and do a Erase Install.

. This 3-D program probably takes up a LOT of space! I don't recommend it. Very few pics need that kind of attention.

Photoshop takes gabs of ram. Maybe your system won't handle it or the photo you're trying to save.

What you can try is Save As in the File menu and select Jpeg.

There's also Save for Web.

Photoshop formats can very heavy because of the multiple layers to the photo. Under Layers menu select Flatten Image.

Figure on adding 512MB of RAM when you're using Photoshop. They also have a program called Elements which may be more to your liking. Just a smaller version of PS.
Photoshop needs A lot of RAM... If your machine does not have enough ram for the command you try to apply or like save, then it will try to use HARDDISk space instead of RAM area and this makes running this command a little bit slower but succesfully.

At least on SYSTEM partition (the disk that you located WINDOWS in it.) should have at least 1,5-2 GB free space.. If you have more harddsik you are luckier...

Open PHOTOSHOP then Go to EDIT/Preferences/Plugins %26 Scratch Disks, Then select First/Second/Third/Fourth disk with a rank of first has the widest free area then the others smaller... Then RESTART photoshop...

Then Your Photoshop has A RAM and a lot of Scratch Disks helping it while it can not use RAM.

I quess if you do this your problem will finish..

I'm assuming you're starting with a color photo. Use the lasso, magnetic lasso, or magic wand to select only the shirt. Slightly feather the selection. Do Select/Inverse, then use the Saturation tool to reduce the color to 0.
Hold on i'll explain in a minute.

First, use magnetic lassoe to select pink shirt, or whatever you prefer to select your shirt.

Goto layer, new fill layer, solid color.

Change mode to Color hit ok

choose shade of pink.

hit ok.

Done.

Hi, I have CS3 for both Illustrator and Photoshop. When I copy something in Illustrator and then try to bring up Photoshop it will take an crazy amount of time for Photoshop to finally pop up. Is this normal? Is there a fix?

I have a 4GBs of RAM, plenty of HDD space, a very good video card and processor. Everything worked seamlessly when I had CS2. =(

if anyone is rlly good in photoshop i hope you can help me with this. i made 2 pics and blended them. but i want to have them in black and white so i went to grayscale because when you lower hue/saturation, the quality isnt as good as when you do grayscale. and then i saved the pic. but now i want to put a texture on it and set it to lighten to get that cool effect. but when i put the texture on it it turns black and white too. how should i do it so that the texture stays in color when i drag it onto the bw pic??? and when i desaturate it its the same like lowering hue/saturation so.. lower quality:( please help!!

Unfortunately I don't believe this can be done as a PSD file. You would have to save it as a JPEG not a PSD, then pull it back into Photoshop on a RGB template - the image itself wont change colour but you can then add whatever texture you want in whatever colour you want. Hope this helps.

Change your image back to RGB mode. Your original image that you turned black and white in greyscale mode will stay black and white, but you can now put color gradients, filters, etc. over that black and white image. Additionally, anything that you drag into the file after it has been brought back to its RGB state will remain in color.

One neat tip, if you're going for cool effects, mess with the layer types. It's the pull down menu on the palette just under the layers tab. You can make it be "color" or "overlay" which from the sound of your project could give you some pretty cool effects.
Never, never apply any modification in original image.

Because you already done that, I think what you can do is change the color mode of your grayscale image through "Image%26gt;Mode%26gt;RGB Color" menu. Next is open your texture image and drag its layer to your grayscale image.

It's hard to say not knowing what OS you are using or the version of Photoshop you are using. Also I have no idea if your issue is at PS startup or during regular usage. If you don't have an enormous amount of fonts, it won't be a major issue. I will take a shot based on some assumptions that you are using WinXP and Photoshop CS3. Generally you can go under Edit-Preferences and go under the Performance section...make sure you are utilizing most of your RAM, turn down your History States to something like 10-20 for now....and make sure you have the scratch disk set to a proper disk with space for the scratch to work efficiently. You may have GPU settings in this section for your video card...play with those settings and see if you get better results.

Get rid of most of the fonts immediately. You can save them in another folder but the fonts folder if you don麓t want to loose them.

You should be able to pick up one specific font by opening the preview option for TTF-files. Then that font should be available in Photoshop as long as the file is open.

I don麓t know the details because I don麓t use Photoshop myself.

hey i dont know how to do that, but if you do decide to go brunette be careful because often when you try dye you hair blonde to brunette it tends to go slightly green, but if you put in a dye that has a slightly red pigment to it that should tone out the green look.

hey buddy!

Clone tool: it works just like rubber stamp. Clone tool is mainly used to adjust the facial features with less opacity. Clone tool works exactly the same as rubber stamp, Just hold "alt" key and click on a source point( the place which u want to copy) and then just use your mouse to clone by clicking and dragging it just like brush.

Masks: Mask is simply to hide the area u dont to be shown in the final output. Apart from this masks are used to create alpha channels, for 3d use. It is mostly used for keeping transparency in picture.

Vignettes %26 edges: Edges are basically (exactly) the same as it means, the edges of the document or the edges of the object on a particular layer.It is exactly the outline or the outer border of the picture or object or element on the layer. Vignettes are the same as edges it means A photograph whose edges shade off gradually. So it is important in dealing with edges in photoshop, as they affect largely how the image looks( basically sharp or blurry) . It is a decision to make by seeing th photograph, if the edges should be blurry or sharp depending on the aesthetic values of that particular picture.

There's a series of books by Scott Kelby that I really like...he can show you in simple steps how to create most anything. Down %26 Dirty Photoshop Tricks...check them out at the bookstore and see if you find what you need. He does a book each time a new Photoshop version comes out, so you can do all the older book things in the newer programs.

I would recommend simply using the numeric method. With your image selected, go to the image menu, then select "resize image" (or "image size"... can't remember the name in english, since I have the spanish version). There you can enter the dimensions you want your image to have, and you can also choose to make it keep its original proportions.

If you really want to use the mouse and it's somehow not working, I think for that to work you have to use the selection tool and hit "select all" on your image. Then right-click and select "free transform" or something similar (it's called "transformaci贸n libre" in the spanish version, so in english it must be very similar).

If THAT doesn't work, then you may have to uninstall and reinstall.

If you have any other questions regarding photoshop or image manipulation in general, feel free to message me. I've been using it for years.

The best thing any one can tell you is to learn how to use the help feature, and spend time on it. Even if you don't find what you need you will learn from reading other things in your search. Look up what you need in different wordings, such as; edit picture or change object. Also, read the things that come up. It may be under something named differently than what you thought.

Also, If you are dealing with graphic arts you're going to have to use other programs such as Coreldraw and Adobe. Most of the editing you will want to do can only be done in those programs. In graphic arts you will often have to switch, copy and past, to other programs to do some things. Photo Shop is weak, limited, and you will never find all you need in one program.

It's fun and rewarding. right now I can't help you through the email, sorry. You can, however, contact me through yahoo answers and I'll see what type of tips about drawing I can give you. My computer is down, so I'm using an outside computer.

you can check on yahoo!pictures for "bullet holes" and then, in photoshop open the picture and press strg+u (or was it i?) to make it black'n'white. then you can copy the black space into

another layer of the picture you wanna edit, and click strg+v to insert it. then you can doubleclick the layer and set it to "multiply". you can also fool a lil bit around with the "channels" (one tab right of layers tab)

It sounds like one of the program files is corrupted. You'll probably have to uninstall photoshop and re-install the latest version.

Did you mean the "fade wave"? Right after the "wave filter" applied, press Ctrl+Shift+F to open up "fade" dialog box. Fade is always related to the last filter applied and, in this case, is "fade wave."

I've solved this problem by going on google and downloading pictures of smoke, from chimneys and other things. Then, after downloading them, I manipulated them using "liquify".... and so on, then stored them in my own personal picture folder for future use. I have over one thousand images of things stored in my "things" folder. Photoshop is wonderful.

Your bottom layer (background or the layer just above it) should hold the image you want to be the watermark. Just adjust the transparancy in the layers pallete to what looks good to you... I usuallly go around 30%.

You can also adjust the opacity of the brush tools, should you wish to do it that way.
