So I have adobe photoshop cs3, and i have a layout and graphics site, and i'm trying to learn how to like have a black and white picture, but then have one certain color stick out, you know like maybe the color of a shirt or hat or something like that, and also, how do you change the color of that certain thing sticking out, and ONE MORE thing, is it possible to make the colorized thing in the picture be gradient? lol, i know this was a lot, and maybe a little bit hard to understand, if you can atleast answer one of those questions, i would be happy!

use the majic wand tool to select the shirt, then apply the color gradient fill to that selected area. Cut and paste it to a new layer if you prefer .
i woudl suggest doing a google search.
like photoshop - colorize black and white image..etc....
